Staring at the white clover in the tall grass
Starting a new "graphic design and creative direction" practice
Hi Friends & People I Would Like To Be Friends With,
The transition from Spring to Summer is a special time, especially in Portland, OR. I love being able to watch the change in plant color and bloom gradually everyday. There is so much plant growth, a sense of quiet (for me, the past few days, at least) and a feeling that a chapter is ending, and a new one is beginning.
I am starting a Graphic Design Studio called Fern Hill.
I’ve wanted to make the jump to a non-traditional 9-5 job for a long time now, and feel like with lots of graphic design studio experience over the years, now is the time to get started. That being said:
I am always looking for new people to work with! We’re looking for client and project inquiries, so if you have a project in mind, don’t hesitate to reach out.
The studio isn’t just me, the idea behind it is that each project has its own needs, and we bring on different friends and collaborators to make each project its most resonant form.
Another small note:
I’ve been making posters for Maps Good Space events!
Maps Good Space is a spot in SE Portland, OR that is a third space and shop on Sundays. Every once in a while, they host special events such as a cute dinner experience, or a music show. Here are a few posters that I made for them recently:
The Jacob Miller & Pictoria Vark show is on June 4th, at 8PM.
The Maps is now on Google Maps event is on June 22nd, at noon.
Thank you for reading my rant about graphic design, rather than personal art practices this time… I will be back with more soon!
For now, if Fern Hill sounds interesting to you, or if you have a design need or project in mind, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best,
Matthew Vlach
